Came to this place few months back to try their chicken rice and cakoi. It was all good. And came here again today and tried their lo Mai Kai , carrot cake and pumpkin bao. Pumpkin bao was good, but the lo Mai Kai tasted so bad and it smelled one kind. The carrot cake was so hard to bite on. 🥲 PLEASE improve as there’s not many Chinese restaurants around this place.
I had no bad experience with this restaurant until today. I ordered 2 packet of chicken rice (thigh) + roast pork via Grab. When the order arrived, I was shocked by what was given. It was 4 pieces of roast chicken which had little to no meat at all, it was almost like skin wrapped in bones, and both packet were the same !
I had to drive out to the restaurant to confront them. They changed it immediately, but what disappoint me was their attitude were unapologetic. When I ask them they just shrugged it off and ask the kitchen to redo. The it gives me the impression that this isn’t the first time and that they could be doing it on purpose to reduce cost? Probably taking the advantage of people who order from Grab wouldn’t have time to make a trip to the restaurant. Utterly disappointed.
A welcome addition to the Chinese food scene, which is lacking, at Puncak Alam.
Offers koptitiam food in a pleasant comfortable setting with non AC on the GF but AC seats upstair.
Good service.
Char siew/siew yok, roasted duck rice/noodles and a host of other options.
There are tarts, dim sums, and other small bites.
Roasted pork/siew yok rice is ok, nothing extraordinary.
Prawn dumpling (har gao) is very poor. The wrapping is thick and rough, while the prawn crumbles. These aren’t prepared from fresh but frozen dim sum. Not recommended.
Ordered the roasted chicken rice, steamed chicken rice with towgay, and curry chicken rice via Grab. You can choose which part of the chicken you want in Grab and I got the breast. Chicken rice Taste was good but the breast meat was a bit tough and chewy.
The curry chicken rice was very nice, came with some green vegetable – (kailan I think). Curry coconut gravy was thick and flavourful.
Both in the egg tart and Portuguese egg tart was very good. Portuguese egg tart puff pastry was nice and crispy.
Siew bao average..
A comfortable breakfast spot with room for improvement.
I’m a regular at this restaurant for breakfast, and I appreciate the pleasant atmosphere they provide. The environment is well-ventilated, ensuring a comfortable dining experience without feeling stuffy. The food is satisfactory, with flavors that are enjoyable, if not outstanding.
However, there’s one aspect that I hope the management will address: the cleanliness of the baby chairs. While I understand that young children can be messy eaters, I believe it’s essential for the staff to thoroughly clean and sanitize the chairs between uses. Unfortunately, I’ve consistently found the chairs to be unclean, requiring me to spend time wiping them down before use. This has led me to consider not using the chairs at all, which is inconvenient.
I hope the restaurant will take my feedback constructively and implement a more rigorous cleaning protocol for the baby chairs. With this improvement, I would be more than happy to continue making this my go-to breakfast spot.
